I’m Wendy, and I represent the Southern region HVMN group, including Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Kent and South London.
My career has been in the private sector for international companies in the travel industry and business consultancy before I moved into the charity sector in 2001. After working as a volunteer in my spare time on the board of two charities, I grew to love all things volunteering and now Head up the Volunteering Services for St Barnabas Hospices, which has a children’s hospice in Arundel Chestnut Tree House, and an adult’s hospice in Worthing St Barnabas House.
I have found HVMN invaluable as a way to collaborate with peers and share best practices, new ideas and training. We meet on zoom or in person three to four times a year; we also share questions or challenges with the group, who are always ready to give their ideas or ways of working. It is an energetic, friendly, knowledgeable team, and we would love you to join us!

I come from a customer service background and have worked for St Barnabas and Chestnut Tree House for over 8 years. Initially I came on board as a Voluntary Services Officer and have been the Head of Voluntary Services since 2019”
Our region has representation from across Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, Kent and South London. We are a very active group meeting up to four times a year in person where we get the opportunity to share best practice, bounce ideas and not to mention have a look around each other’s hospices. As well as meeting in person we welcome members to send any burning questions through which are emailed out to the group for discussion or sharing of information.
The group is most importantly an opportunity to support each other and we would love to hear any prospective new members to welcome into the region
